Step-by-step guide
Understand customer payments and payouts
Customers pay on Stripe after approving the proposal.
- 1
With Pro and an active Stripe connection, share the accepted proposal link. The customer can choose the available deposit or remaining balance and pay through Stripe Checkout.
- 2
In Profile and preferences, open the customer payment settings to turn customer financing on or off. Financing is on by default for existing connected accounts. Changes apply to new checkouts; existing checkout links can retain their earlier options until they expire.
- 3
Eligible customers may see Affirm or Klarna and apply to pay over time. Stripe and the provider determine availability, approval, and terms. When financing is off, Link is also unavailable in new checkouts because it can offer Klarna.
- 4
Bank payments can take several business days to confirm. While a payment is processing, do not request another payment. If it fails, the customer can retry when the proposal allows it.
- 5
Check payment status, payout timing, applicable fees, refunds, and disputes in your Stripe Dashboard. Customer installments are handled by the provider; your payout follows Stripe's applicable schedule.
Stripe fees and provider terms vary. If a customer was charged but the app says unpaid, do not ask them to pay again; contact support with the estimate reference, amount, and time.
